About Hurricane Melissa

On October 28, Hurricane Melissa made landfall on the southern coast of Jamaica as a category 5 hurricane one of the strongest ever recorded in the Atlantic and the most powerful to strike the island.

The hurricane swept through Jamaica’s western region, leaving behind widespread devastation. Homes, crops, and infrastructure were destroyed, and several parishes remain without power.

Our Town ‘n’ Country Seventh-day Adventist Church family, along with many loved ones in our community, has been directly impacted.  In response, our church is leading a Hurricane Relief Project to bring immediate assistance and long-term recovery support.

Phase 1: Essential Supplies

During our first phase, we are collecting and sending:

  • Monetary donations
  • Non-perishable food items
  • Clothing and shoes
  • Over-the-counter medication/First Aid
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Tarps and survival items

Phase 2: Building Supplies

Next, we will provide materials to help repair and rebuild damaged homes.

Phase 3: Medical Mission Trip

Finally, we have a volunteer medical mission trip to Jamaica planned for Summer 2026 to support affected communities.

Together, let’s stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Jamaica as they rebuild their lives.
